Karbon provided various services for multiple facilities and locations in the Northeast, including:
Shelton, CT
The Tier IV facility is 150,000-SF with 44,000-SF of data hall space. Karbon performed design and commissioning services for an Artificial Intelligence CRAH control system in a live mission critical environment. As part of our scope, we had to minimize its impact on the existing chiller plant’s demand control management system. Working closely with the owner's operations staff, the control equipment manufacturer and the BMS team we rewrote the scripts, implemented and tested the changes to the demand control programming, and rolled out of the new AI CRAH control system. The project required continual on-site support throughout the AI "Learning Period" and resulted in a 70% reduction in fan energy and a small increase in pump energy without impacting reliability.
Weehawken, NJ
Karbon performed commissioning services for an equipment upgrade to the HVAC system in a live 9,000-SF facility. To ensure critical services were not interrupted during construction we worked closely with the contractors, particularly the controls contractor, throughout construction. We allowed some overlap of startup and functional testing activities, revising test scripts on the fly to accommodate changing sequences.
New York City
Karbon Performed commissioning services for a new UPS system and CRAC units in a live facility. The facility is 900,000-SF with 9,000-SF of data hall space. The scope included defining and implementing energy savings strategies for the office area served by numerous fan coil units and a dedicated chiller plant.
To minimize any risk, we followed the contractor's MOPs and coordinated all work with the project team. The owner required that we maintain (shutdown) only one piece of equipment for replacement at a time, so we created a flexible schedule to support the startup and testing activities without any interruptions to existing operations.
